Hybrid Cypripediums for rapid proliferation ...

Hybrid Cypripedium for rapid proliferation...

Hybrid Cypripedium are the result of crossing two wild or botanical species and are generally distinguished by their rapid growth (hybrid vigour).

These hybrids really are more vigorous, meaning that new stems appear more quickly. With hybrid varieties, it is not uncommon to obtain a flowerbed of 10-20 stems in just a few years.

They proliferate very quickly in both pots or in the garden and are ideal for beginners or those wanting large flowerbeds relatively quickly.

  • Cypripedium 'Inge' : Cypripedium 'Inge' is a hybrid that combines the strength of Cypripedium parviflorum with awesome flower of Cypripedium fasciolatum. This results in large size flowers of cream-colored yellow with red / brown and with a long flowering period.

  • Cypripedium ‘Otto’ : Cypripedium 'Otto' is a very nice cross between Cypripedium calceolus and pubescens. Very similar to Cypripedium calceolus, it is however much easier in culture. Very good in the garden, hardy, vigorous and clumping well, though this makes small, thin-rooted plants, that are characteristic when calceolus as a pod parent.

  • Cypripedium ‘Victoria’ : Cypripedium 'Victoria' is a remarkably hardy hybrid obtained by crossing Cypripedium pubescens with Asian Cypripedium fasciolatum. The flower obtained is larger than that of cypripedium pubescens and cream to light yellow with sepals of light brown color. It is a vigorous plant that can measure up to 80 cm.

  • Cypripedium 'Lucy Pinkepank' : Cypripedium 'Lucy Pinkepank' is a superb cross of the vigorous North American native Cypripedium kentuckiense and the colorful Chinese Cypripedium tibeticum. The huge flowers that top the 40 cm tall stalks in early spring are streaked fuchsia red, and the plant vigor is excellent...exceptional!

  • Cypripedium 'Gisela' : This cross between Cypripedium macranthos and Cypripedium parviflorum is undoubtedly one of the easiest hybrids to grow. It proliferates very quickly both in pots and in the garden. An ideal hybrid for beginners.

  • Cypripedium 'Philipp' : The flowers of this very vigorous Cypripedium hybrid (macranthos X kentuckiense) are the same size and shape as Cypripedium kentuckiense but are dark pink to purple, similar to the Cypripedium macranthos.

  • Cypripedium ventricosum 'red' : is a natural hybrid crossed between Cypripedium macranthos and Cypripedium calceolus. The result is a beautiful, vigorous hybrid which is easy to grow.

  • Cypripedium 'Eurasia' : Cypripedium 'Eurasia' is an exceptional hybrid between Cypripedium macranthos and Cypripedium tibeticum. It produces large, brightly colored flowers similar to Cypripedium tibeticum.

What should I do when I receive my Cypripedium?

To avoid the rhizome drying out in the pot, we advise replanting our perennial orchids in the garden as soon as you receive your order.
